Short-Term Running Goals:

I've gotten the running bug back and hope I can continue to enjoy it. I think for now, my short-term goal is to NOT burn myself out. I am pro at doing that. I have a half and full marathon that I am planning on racing in a few months. I hope to be trained well enough to PR in both, but if not...I will enjoy the ride.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Under 1:30 half

3:15 marathon

Oh my heavens! I just reminded myself of why I hate running on MY treadmill and why I go to the gym to run on the plush treadmills. 3.15 easy, slow, boring, sweaty, sucky miles. Oh well, can't have good days every day, right? AND I wasn't even going to run at all so I guess I did at least that. I actually did a few more miles this week than planned but I'll really taper next week:)

You ran, that counts for a lot! I am increasing my taper quite a bit next week.

I will second Jody' comment. You got miles in, and that gang you run with, with Kelli, you guys rock. You included. I think your well on your way to getting your goals (3:30, then 3:15). Are you going to get 330 in SGM this year? Your training/races seem to imply your ready, you sure are fast.

From Michelle N. on Fri, Sep 19, 2008 at 14:19:25

I will be happy with 3:30 but secretly I want to do a little faster (3:25) but like I said, 3:30 will be great. I did 1:35 at Hobblecreek so I should be good to go but you never know the day of.

From jona on Fri, Sep 19, 2008 at 14:23:03

Wow, I would love to get even 335. I may have to draft off you. Maybe tie a rope around you and let you pull me along.

From Michelle N. on Fri, Sep 19, 2008 at 14:29:49

By the looks of your training, you should do awesome. Best of luck.

From jona on Fri, Sep 19, 2008 at 14:50:47

You too. It will be fun reading your blog after the race. Its always fun to see when people beat up on their goal. GOGOGO!

From Kelli on Fri, Sep 19, 2008 at 17:04:58

It is not longer a secret, Michelle!! I bet you can do it!!

See, i tell you all of the time how much the treadmill sucks. But for me, it does not matter if it is at home or at the gym---it just all sucks!

Good job anyway. What are you guys doing tomorrow? Are you doing the half again? Scott is determined to do 20. I dunno about that.

From Michelle N. on Fri, Sep 19, 2008 at 17:15:35

We are doing 15 up Wasatch Blvd. Angela (Julie's sister) is doing the 15 with us and then 7 more if you guys are interested. We are starting at 5:00.

From Kelli on Fri, Sep 19, 2008 at 20:40:15

Oh, geesh!!! Thanks for offering, but that run sounds AWFUL! We are not as superhuman as you guys are! I was just wondering if you were gonna run long. Scott is insisting we do 20 and I so donot want to. I was thinking 15 myself, hoping he would settle for 18, but I think it will be 20. Our first game is not until 10 am, so we have the time and he wants to use it.

You guys have FUN tomorrow. I wish I was running where there are no tarantulas!

Michelle, I'm the same way, the gym just usually has a cooler mill to run on. As far as you telling me to ice, I'm not sure I can as the injury is so deep seated in my lower back. Almost like to the bone. By the way get outside and run! This is the most beautiful time of the year!

From Michelle N. on Sat, Sep 20, 2008 at 10:32:03

Steve-I know I'm crazy to run on the tready this time of year but I have a 2 year old and some days just don't pan out for me to go outside. The hubby leaves for the gym at 5:00 so I have to rely on my 12 year old to listen for him but somedays I don't have anyone to run with and it is soooo dark (I live in Bluffdale and the people out here just let their horses run:) so the treadmill has to work some days. Oh well, I guess there is a time and season, right? I hope anyway:)
