Short-Term Running Goals:

I've gotten the running bug back and hope I can continue to enjoy it. I think for now, my short-term goal is to NOT burn myself out. I am pro at doing that. I have a half and full marathon that I am planning on racing in a few months. I hope to be trained well enough to PR in both, but if not...I will enjoy the ride.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Under 1:30 half

3:15 marathon

Met group at Riverton High track @ 5:30 and ran half hour warm-up around in neighborhoods. Most of the group decided to just go for an off track run but Julie, Cheris, Peggy, Walter, Scott and me did 6x800's with 400 recovery in between. I did all of them in 3:30 except the first which was a few seconds faster and the last was about 10 seconds slower. I did not feel it today. I am tired and I'm sure still recovering from Hobble Creek. After the 800's Peggy, Walter, Scott and me did a 400 with a 400 recovery and 2x200 with 200 recovery. I ran 2 more easy laps with Cheris to cool down. I felt like I had lead in my shoes today but still made good time. With recovery and warm-up and cooldown still averaged 8:35.

Michelle, with all that lead in your shoes you should have taken them off! Or trade me shoes for a couple rounds. lol I had a rock on the bottom of my shoe in TOU half for about 6 miles. It was so stuck that I almost fell trying to kick it off. Talk about psyching you out! Knowing you have extra weight on you. lol jk

If thats all it takes is to trade you shoes, I'm game. I was a little sleepy today and it just wasn't my day. Oh well, there's always tomorrow. Great job BTW at TOU.

Thanks, you did great today. Speed workouts are tough! I have been doing them for a long time. Whats your plans for this weekend?

From Jody on Tue, Aug 26, 2008 at 11:02:46

You looked like you were flying around the track today! You did a great job!

From Michelle N. on Tue, Aug 26, 2008 at 11:20:42

Thanks Jody. It was deceiving though, I was beat!

Walter-Julie and me are running 20 along with 2 football games on Sat. Crazy.

Okay, according to Jon's little spreadsheet, you were actually number 28 on Saturday!! WOW. He took it all from the official race results, so it should be correct. Julie was 26 and Cheris was 21. WOW!! That really shows just how awesome you guys were (and are).

So, I am dumb here. When you say you did them all in 3:30, what does that mean? Was that how long it took you to do two laps?

From Michelle N. on Tue, Aug 26, 2008 at 14:20:54

Kelli-Peggy had us try and run the 2 laps in our hopeful marathon time. If I want to run 3:30 in the marathon then she had us run 3 minutes and 30 seconds for the 800. Don't feel dumb cuz I didn't get it at first either.

From Kelli on Tue, Aug 26, 2008 at 15:38:40

So, it was basically half a mile in 3;30, right? Wow, that is superty-de-duperty fast. I would have been aimin for 4!

From Julie on Tue, Aug 26, 2008 at 17:44:12

Great job today Michelle. For having tired legs you never slowed down. I'm glad you pulled yourself out of bed.

Kelli- Thanks for letting us know what place we came in the race. That is so cool. I think you will be much faster than a 4 hour finish.
