Short-Term Running Goals:

I've gotten the running bug back and hope I can continue to enjoy it. I think for now, my short-term goal is to NOT burn myself out. I am pro at doing that. I have a half and full marathon that I am planning on racing in a few months. I hope to be trained well enough to PR in both, but if not...I will enjoy the ride.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Under 1:30 half

3:15 marathon

Race time was 1:43. I'll write details later.

Okay, I slept pretty good and we woke up at 7:00. Ate steel cut oats, zip fizz and 1/2 cliff bar. Got to start at 8:35 and found Teena. Julie and I started with her.

Miles

1-8:03 A little faster than we wanted to start.

2-8:06 Pretty good

3-7:59 GU and water stop

4-7:47

5-7:58

6-7:40

7-7:47

8-7:39 I left Julie and Teena because I felt good and wanted to start pushing the pace a bit

9-7:40

10-7:31

11-7:52 GU stop and feeling a little tired

12-7:37

13-7:37

.25-1:42(7:09 pace) -Everyone I talked to measured around this distance on their GPS

This was a good run. It is hard for me to know if I could've done much better because I didn't push it the first 9 miles but started to get tired at the end when I started pushing harder. Although, I passed around 20 women the last 4-5 miles. Always a great thing. Only 2 men passed me from mile 7 on. I feel like I did great considering my slacking during December. Lots of fun.

You did awesome! I felt bad I could not find you guys at the start, but I could not have stayed with you. Congratulations! Have a great time in Hawaii!

Great job, Michelle! I'm especially impressed with mile 5. Reading everyone else's blogs, that seems to be the hardest one with the hill. Looks like it didn't slow you down too much.

From Teena on Mon, Jan 19, 2009 at 00:29:02

Michelle ... or should I say SuperWoman? You were on fire!! You and your singing ... you make me laugh.

Nice race. I can only imagine how fast you would have been had you not held back the first 8 miles.

Very cool!

Have fun in Hawaii.

Great job Michelle!

It is amazing to look at the split times people are reporting. Everyone seemed to have a great race. I was surprised that the report did not include any potty breaks! The bladder must cooperated this time in St. George (ha, ha)!

Kudos to the step runner!

From peggy on Mon, Jan 19, 2009 at 12:06:15

Way to go on passing all those women! That always makes me feel good, too. Great race!

From Cheryl on Mon, Jan 19, 2009 at 12:14:55

Yes, great race. Those are great split times. Now go have lots of fun in Hawaii!

From Andy on Wed, Jan 21, 2009 at 15:44:23

Great race. It looks like you really held back for a few miles. You are in great shape even though you think that you "slacked off" for a couple of months.
