Okay, I have been sooo busy! I went camping right after the race and haven't had 2 seconds to blog and still don't so I will report later.
So, I woke up at 3:45 which felt like 2:45 because I just got back from Oregon on Thursday night. Anyway, got down to Springville early and picked up my number. I got back in the car and TRULY contemplated laying down and going to sleep and not running. I have lacked motivation and wasn't really too interested in racing. Anyway, as usual, the race started about 30-45 minutes late. Luckily it wasn't very cold so it wasn't a big deal. I had talked to Teena and Walter about what they were planning on and thought I would try and stay with them. I kept them in my sights until mile 9. That is when I died! So here are the miles... 1-7:14 I had planned to start a little fast to make up for the flat at the end and I just tried to keep up with Teena. 2- 7:20 Feeling pretty darned good 3- 7:28 Slowed a little but still feeling pretty good. Took Vanilla Bean GU. 4- 7:24 Feeling pretty good 5- 7:29 Feeling good 6- 7:23 7- 7:43 8- 7:33 9- 7:48 The start of bad things to come 10-8:31 Yeah, I know. I walked for 30-40 seconds. It got REALLY hot and I started feeling really depleated. Espresso Love GU
11-8:30 Pretty much the same. Walked again. 12-8:20Walked again.
13-7:54 I actually looked at my watch and decided that I could walk for 30-45 seconds, run an 8 minute pace and still make it in under 1:40, so, I did. I just gave up. Although, I didn't have anything left. So, let me just say, I was really unhappy with my time and overall race BUT, considering my lack of training, I guess I should be happy. You get out what you put in and if you look at my training, I haven't been putting it in. Oh, and the fact that I have gained 8-10 pounds since last years Hobblecreek doesn't help either. I don't know if I am just going through a big slump or what but I really don't have the motivation to train the way I need to so I need to adjust my thoughts on my race times if I don't plan on training. Anyway, that is that! I am a little sore but not terrible.
Last year I ran 1:35:04 and placed 29th overall female and 5th in my age group. It was a tough crowd this year.
