Half Marathon PR 1:35.

Short-Term Running Goals:

I've gotten the running bug back and hope I can continue to enjoy it. I think for now, my short-term goal is to NOT burn myself out. I am pro at doing that. I have a half and full marathon that I am planning on racing in a few months. I hope to be trained well enough to PR in both, but if not...I will enjoy the ride.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Under 1:30 half

3:15 marathon

Met up at Albertsons in Draper to run Wasatch Blvd. with Julie, Angela, Michelle M. and Dean. Made it up the big monster hill without walking today. Felt quite good today other than the chili I had for dinner:) At the half way point our AP was 9:12 and at the end it was 8:54 so a definite negative split. I really love this run.

I ran an easy 6.9 miles with my brother down on the trail. Saw Jerry and Julie and ran with Julie for a bit. CJ and me had great conversation today and I feel great. Glad I got up because I've been so sick the past few days and really didn't feel like getting up. AP 9:10

Ran Wasatch again with Julie, Angela, Michelle M., Cheris, and Eric. I felt really great until about 13 and I started feeling really light headed, dizzy, nauseous, etc. We did the exact same thing as last week. 9:12 AP on the first half and then major negative split and ended with 8:54 AP. This was probably the worst I have ever felt on a run. I was still keeping a good pace but just felt so crappy. I guess I was probably still not feeling great from the throwing up crap last weekend.

I was quite tired from my run Saturday so I took a LONG nap yesterday and then didn't sleep very well last night. I really didn't want to get up this morning but my brother was coming to pick me up. We went down to the trail and did 3 out and back. My stomach still wasn't feeling the greatest. AP 9:16-Nice and easy.

Ran a hilly workout on the Oregon Coast. Nothing like looking at sea lions and beautiful scenery to make time pass. AP was around 8:15

Okay, I have been sooo busy! I went camping right after the race and haven't had 2 seconds to blog and still don't so I will report later.

So, I woke up at 3:45 which felt like 2:45 because I just got back from Oregon on Thursday night. Anyway, got down to Springville early and picked up my number. I got back in the car and TRULY contemplated laying down and going to sleep and not running. I have lacked motivation and wasn't really too interested in racing. Anyway, as usual, the race started about 30-45 minutes late. Luckily it wasn't very cold so it wasn't a big deal. I had talked to Teena and Walter about what they were planning on and thought I would try and stay with them. I kept them in my sights until mile 9. That is when I died!

So here are the miles...

1-7:14 I had planned to start a little fast to make up for the flat at the end and I just tried to keep up with Teena.

2- 7:20 Feeling pretty darned good

3- 7:28 Slowed a little but still feeling pretty good. Took Vanilla Bean GU.

4- 7:24 Feeling pretty good

5- 7:29 Feeling good

6- 7:23

7- 7:43

8- 7:33

9- 7:48 The start of bad things to come

10-8:31 Yeah, I know. I walked for 30-40 seconds. It got REALLY hot and I started feeling  really depleated. Espresso Love GU

11-8:30 Pretty much the same. Walked again.

12-8:20Walked again.

13-7:54 I actually looked at my watch and decided that I could walk for 30-45 seconds, run an 8 minute pace and still make it in under 1:40, so, I did. I just gave up. Although, I didn't have anything left.

So, let me just say, I was really unhappy with my time and overall race BUT, considering my lack of training, I guess I should be happy. You get out what you put in and if you look at my training, I haven't been putting it in. Oh, and the fact that I have gained 8-10 pounds since last years Hobblecreek doesn't help either. I don't know if I am just going through a big slump or what but I really don't have the motivation to train the way I need to so I need to adjust my thoughts on my race times if I don't plan on training. Anyway, that is that! I am a little sore but not terrible.

Last year I ran 1:35:04 and placed 29th overall female and 5th in my age group. It was a tough crowd this year.

I've decided that part of my lack of motivation is that I haven't been doing any cross-training like I normally do so, I decided to go to step class today. It was fun and a butt kicker of a workout! Now, if I can get my sorry butt to go to running group tomorrow...

Well, interesting morning. I misunderstood where we were meeting and went to Draper and nobody was there so I headed out to Riverton and started looking and found everyone 3 miles into the run. Probably a good thing. 20 might have killed me. I forgot my Garmin so I don't know what my exact mileage or pace was. Felt decent until 15 when I got a major charlie horse in my foot and could hardly walk but it relaxed after about 15 minutes and I felt fine.
