Met up with the BBK's this morning. We warmed up off track for about 1-1 1/2 miles (garmin battery was dead). Did a 400, 300, 200, 100 fast/recovery workout. We did it 2 times in that order and 2 times in the reverse order. I was supposed to end with a fast 400 but thought I might puke so I stopped. My AP (not including the warm up) was under 8:00. That is my problem, I jump back in head first.

So, I may be discontinuing my early classes. I am getting a little frustrated with keeping up my running and teaching. I've noticed that my running has suffered ever since I started teaching in February. I can't do everything I guess:(

Met the BBK's for a hilly workout. Did about .85 warm up, then 2 miles through the hilly course. We did it 2 times, followed by a little over a mile cooldown.  I hate the hills but all in all I felt good considering all the time I've taken off. I felt a little tightness/pain in my leg when we started but it felt better after the first mile and it feels fine now. Note to self: I feel great 10 minutes after I wake up, so quit justifying staying in bed.

AP-8:40-Including warm up and cool down. My split thingy wasn't set on my garmin so I don't know what the middle miles were but I am thinking around 8:20ish.

By the Way-I am in charge of the Bluffdale 5 and 10K on June 13. Anyone who is interested should come and run it. It should be a fun, cheap race. You can check out the website at www.bluffdale.com or sameday registration before 6:15 (the race starts at 6:30) at 14400 So. and Redwood Rd. This is the first race I've done so I could use the moral support:)

Taught sculpting class early this morning.

I went to the elementary school to pace some of the 6th graders for the National and Presidential Fitness awards. My son had already earned the National but needed a 7:32 to get the Presidential and was of by 12 seconds. I first paced the slow girls that needed 11:17 to get the National. 2 of them took off and ended up with 9:45, I stayed with 1 and she was bawling and hyperventilating and got 10:45 and the last one just mentally didn't have it. She had about 100 yards left and if she would've run, she would've done it but she stopped and walked and missed it by 15 seconds.

I then paced my sons group and the first boy got 7:21, my boy got 7:31 and the other 2 missed it by 4 and 28 seconds!!! One of the girls that go 9:45 and one other girl asked if I would pace them and try to get the Presidential and I ran them in at 8:18! These kids are so awesome and it is cool to watch them succeed at something they don't think they can do. I think I would go back and do this every year even if I don't have a kid doing it. Way fun. So my miles were 10:45, 7:21, and 8:18. The 7:21 felt a little tough to me but not too bad. Other than that, pretty easy. BTW, this was all run on uneven grass.

Julie, Jody and Lisa Dudley met me in Bluffdale to run and mark the 5k and 10k for next week. We ran the 5k pretty slow in 27:xx and then ran another .21 back to the starting line to recover. We then ran the 10k a lot quicker. Julie had an AP of 8:18 but her and Lisa finished about 30 seconds before Jody and I so we probably had closer to 8:25 (52:xx). We ran another .44 miles slowly to the car. I have been REALLY tired this week being the first week back consistently running and getting up early every morning. The 5k felt good but I got pretty tired on the 10k. Although we sped up considerately. I really felt the crash the last 2 miles. This is the longest I've run since Boston.

Ran a little later this morning. It was nice to sleep in. Did a loop through windy Bluffdale. Holy cow, the way out was downhill and with the wind, the way home sucked. Windy and uphill and my allergies kicked in and I had major snot nose. Oh well, it felt so good to be out and I am looking forward to tomorrow. AP-8:33.

Met the BBK's at the Binham Track. Warmed up at an 8:26 pace for 1 mile and then started the speed. I didn't want to push to much because I haven't been running a whole lot and because of WBR this weekend but I still did (duh), oh well. We did some track intervals and then did a tempo off track. My overall pace was 7:55. I felt good. Thanks Walter for being slow with me. My fast is your slow.

I was in van #2 running leg 10. This first leg was an easy 3.6 miles but I didn't want to go all out because I was stressed about Ragnar. We met in Liberty for the first van exchange at 6:00. I saw lots of bloggers and other people. I even saw my 7th grade boyfriend:) Anyway, van 2 was a little slower this year. Nothing too exciting about this leg. 7:59 overall pace. I started faster (DUH) and slowed down the last 1.6.  When will I learn to start a little slower and then speed up?

2nd leg started around 5:00 AM. We didn't get any sleep. We tried at East Canyon Reservoir but I was kind of wired and we'd only been laying there for about 45 minutes when van 1 called to tell us they were getting close. Ughhh!!! So, we jumped up and cleaned up our stuff and headed back out. I really enjoyed this leg. I started while it was dark and it gradually got lighter. I decided to just relax and take this one easy so my overall pace was 8:50 for the 7.7 miles. Felt way good and only got passed by a couple of super speedy guys.

Well, no rest again because van 1 only took around 3 hours to complete their last legs. We had some driving around to do. One of the girls in our van was nursing her new baby so her hubby met up with us, another needed to be done earlier so we had to drop her off to get her car and then all regroup in Heber. Kind of a pain. Anyway, this was what I had been dreading for weeks. I got to the start of the 4 mile march of death and the rain had stopped. I started out at a slow jog and thought, holy crap, you have got to be kidding me!!! Around 1/4 mile, a friend of mine saw me and jumped out of his van and ran for about 1/4-1/2 with me. That helped take my mind off things. I hit the mile point in 14 1/2 minutes. Wow, I didn't realize I could be so slow. My calves were on fire but my breathing was pretty decent. The next mile was still way hard but I sped up a little. The rain started back up with a vengence! 3-4 I felt pretty good and decided to run on the straight and walk up the killer switch backs. My last mile ended up being just over 12 minutes so I ended up averaging 13:05. Wow, is all I can say!!! That was the most mentally grueling thing I have ever done! I wanted to quit so bad the first mile. My lack of running over the past couple months did not help at all. I would be curious to see how I'd do on this though, if I had trained a little better.

All in all, a great time. I was completely exhausted though. We didn't get home until 6:00 PM and I fell asleep around 8:30 and didn't budge until 9:30 on Sunday. I still don't have a lot of energy. I like van 1 better, you tend to get more sleep and longer breaks. Oh well, at least it is summer and I can relax!

Went out at 8:00 this morning. It was a little too hot and windy. Decided to be diligent about easy/hard days so today was way easy. Kept it to an AP of 9:24. I felt awesome until the last mile heading into the wind uphill. I started to feel kind of yucky. I didn't eat anything before I went and my stomach started to feel yuck. Overall, a great run and very relaxing. Now, we'll see if I can actually pull my butt out of bed and meet the group tomorrow morning. I've really enjoyed sleeping in this past week.

BTW, my brother (peej on the blog, but he never blogs) just finished his 1st full Iron Man on Sunday so tell him good job and maybe we can get him back blogging.

So, I couldn't pull myself out of bed early this morning. So, I started running later again. It wasn't as hot as yesterday but it was SO windy! I averaged around 8:30 for the first 4 miles but then turned uphill in the wind and slowed significantly and averaged 8:45 for the last couple of miles. I didn't eat or drink anything before I went out and I can really tell on my energy level. Some people don't need to eat but I don't think my body dips in to my reserve enough so I feel like I have to eat something. Anyway, that's that!

I was going to run with the group this morning but we ended up having ALL our kids gone last night so I decided to sleep in with the husband. He rode his bike with me down on the JRP trail while I ran. We started at 10:30, too HOT! I started nice and slow and gradually got faster. I averaged around 9:00 for the first 5 miles and 8:30 for the last 5. Overall 8:45. I felt good.

Met the BBK's this beautiful morning:)  We warmed up for 3.6 miles with an AP of 9:10. The speed was on the track this morning. We did a 1200 5K-1/2 marathon pace to determine partners for relays. I was paired up with Julie. We did 8x600 (4 each) @ 5K pace or faster. We then regrouped and did 400 on/400 off 3 times, followed by 2 laps of all out on straight recovering on curves. I only did 1 cooldown lap. I was spent! AP for speed part was 7:44. I am struggling to get back into things. Hope it comes back soon:)
