Short-Term Running Goals:

I've gotten the running bug back and hope I can continue to enjoy it. I think for now, my short-term goal is to NOT burn myself out. I am pro at doing that. I have a half and full marathon that I am planning on racing in a few months. I hope to be trained well enough to PR in both, but if not...I will enjoy the ride.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Under 1:30 half

3:15 marathon

Can I just start by saying that I really dislike 10K's!!! Tough distance to race. I am definitely not in the greatest shape right now and today showed that for sure. Also, this is kind of a tough course. Flat or uphill are all ya get:) Oh, there is a teeny bit of down but not much. Last year they had around 250 runners for this race and this year there were 411!

I started with Julie and Rachel and felt pretty strong the first mile or so but my legs started aching pretty quick. My breathing evened out around mile 3 but my legs just didn't want to go any faster than they were going. I had 3 of my middle miles in the 8's but my other 3.2 were mid 7's so...Anyway, not my greatest race, although, a PR for a 10K race. I have only run 5 10Ks and they have all been at a bad time for me physically. Not a great PR but a PR none the less. I'm hoping to do the Deseret News 10K and bring that time down. AP 7:57.

That is a hard course---notice I was not there. I do not like hard!!!

Great job. You really are doing great, Injuries take a lot out of you, but you will be back in no time!!!

Did you have fun? How did everyone else do? (since no one posts here anymore---I do not want to wait until Tuesday to find out!)

We though Peggy got first but a SHEMALE was ahead of her and no one knew. She really looked like a man and they didn't know it was a woman until the runnercards came out:) Lynette took 4th, Michelle M. 5th (44:xx), Cheris was 6th or 7th, Julie was around 47:30, Rachel around 49:00 and the rest were quite a bit slower so I'm not sure.

So the running group did AWESOME!!! Cool, but darn that Peggy did not win.

You did great Michelle. You looked so strong when we were together. I think we have both in a rut but that's going to change I'm sure. I just checked runnercard. It looks like Peggy won after all. That must've been a guy. Funny.

GOOD JOB Michelle!!! Not what you'd wanted; but a PR is a PR. CONGRATS on placing in your AG!!!

Michelle,

Congrats on the PR and placement!!! Sounds like a killer course too. You crazy BBKers ...

I think 5 and 10Ks are WAY TOUGH!!!

You did GREAT!!!!

Nice work Michele! That really was a tough course, I had a great time with you and Julie, you both helped pull me through those first few miles! I sure am glad that Peggy really did win...it was a funny story to share with the family Saturday though :) Enjoy that medal, it was a pretty one!!!

From Nancy on Sun, Jul 05, 2009 at 20:58:19 from 76.27.11.127

I think you did great Michelle. I think the course is hard also, but what really is hard on me is the heat.

From Kelli on Sun, Jul 05, 2009 at 21:17:20 from 71.219.89.21

Poor Peggy, not knowing whether she won or not to the non gender specific runner. Of course, we all look pretty scary when we run, so who knows what we are mistaken for!

Congrats on the PR. Des News is a super fast course so you will smash your PR. I hate 10K's, too. They hurt as bad as a 5k but lasts twice as long.
