Half Marathon PR 1:35.

10k PR-46:20 (Obviously not a great short distance runner:)

Short-Term Running Goals:

I've gotten the running bug back and hope I can continue to enjoy it. I think for now, my short-term goal is to NOT burn myself out. I am pro at doing that. I have a half and full marathon that I am planning on racing in a few months. I hope to be trained well enough to PR in both, but if not...I will enjoy the ride.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Under 1:30 half

3:15 marathon

Ran the Deseret News 10K early this morning. I picked up Julie at 4:45 and we headed up to Research Park. Got there around 5:20 and found Rachel, Teena, Smooth, and Jody.

So, let me say it again. I HATE 10K's!!! It is such a tough distance. You have to start fast to make good time and I burn out too quick. Ughh!

1-6:52  I felt pretty good. A little out of breath but not terrible.

2-7:02  This mile would've been faster but my shoe came untied and my foot was slipping so I had to stop and tie it. That little stop kind of killed me cuz it sucked from here on out.

3-7:44  A little uphill at this point and just trying to get back into it.

4-7:33  A little better. This is about where the parade route started and people were cooking sausage and stuff and I wanted to hurl. It stunk so bad.

5-7:31

6-8:03  Embarrasing! The road flattened out and so did I. I really was feeling depleted at this point. My legs felt great, my breathing was okay but I just had NO energy.

.2-1:40  I got passed by several people the last .25 but that pace tells why:)

A PR for me in a 10K race but not the distance. Also a PR in the 5K (22:22). So, I'm trying to decide what the heck is wrong with me. I just am lacking motivation and energy. I hope something changes soon!!!

After the race I hung around with the crew and watched the marathon finishers come through. It is so amazing to see the determination on their faces. The poor 2nd place lady (3:02) collapsed at the finish line. I don't know if I have it in me to push to that point. I saw tons of bloggers after also. A great experience and lots of fun but not a great race:(

Oh, I took 22nd in my age group. The first place female in my division came through at 32:xx!! Holy crap that's fast.

A pr is a pr. Congratulations. Once you figure out the cure for lack of motivation and energy let me know.

Shimelle, You did Awesome congrats on the PR. One of these days I am going to have to come out to South Jordan and figure out what is the BBK's secret.

You did awesome!! The flat after all that downhill makes this a little more tough than we think. The PR is awesome! Keep running and I can't wait to be back with you guys in 2 wks.

Michelle, you are doing great!!! Do not be so hard on yourself. You are an amazing, gifted runner. You had an injury and you are working your way back! Do not worry, it will all come back together soon.

You had a PR! Be happy with that, right? And i totally agree---short distances are very hard. I finally get in my groove and it is over.

From Bec on Fri, Jul 24, 2009 at 16:27:47 from 67.177.35.60

You were strong in your form when I saw you. You are a very good runner, and that time is sweet too! It's fun to see you at races and talk to you a little.

Michelle,

Hey, it was great to see you in the pictures posted on Deseret News. Tons of bloggers with you in the photos. I am glad the heat held off a few hours.

Great Job on the PR

From Shimelle on Sat, Jul 25, 2009 at 12:07:58 from 75.162.225.27

Thanks everyone! I guess I need to not be such a butt and just be happy with my time huh?:) Someday I'll have a race when I feel the planets align hopefully.

From cheryl on Sat, Jul 25, 2009 at 12:37:36 from 76.27.66.153

When that happens let us know. I don't think I've ever had a race where the planets have aligned. That's what makes running fun, I think, never being completely satisfied, always trying to get a little better. I think you did great at the race, I'd be happy with that time.

From RivertonPaul on Sat, Jul 25, 2009 at 14:27:54 from 75.169.33.125

Way to go. Glad you are back at it strong.

From Jon on Sat, Jul 25, 2009 at 14:57:01 from 75.169.150.167

Nice job yesterday! It was good to meet you. And I can't believe that you weren't bragging to us about your PR!

From Smooth on Sun, Jul 26, 2009 at 13:51:19 from 71.35.210.4

Michelle,

I just love hanging out with you before and after the race. I agree with others that you are a gifted runner. You have great form and positive vibes. Funny how I had no idea that was going on in your head about your race. CONGRATS on the PRs. You are so dang cute!

From Peggy on Mon, Jul 27, 2009 at 11:19:12 from 71.213.45.229

Way to run a good race, Michelle. If it was easy, I think we'd give up on it sooner. It's the always wanting to do better that keeps us coming back for more. You're doing great! Hang in there.
