Marathon PR St. George 2008 3:36

Ran Boston in April 2009 and had an absolute blast.

Half Marathon PR 1:35.

10k PR-46:20 (Obviously not a great short distance runner:)

Short-Term Running Goals:

I've gotten the running bug back and hope I can continue to enjoy it. I think for now, my short-term goal is to NOT burn myself out. I am pro at doing that. I have a half and full marathon that I am planning on racing in a few months. I hope to be trained well enough to PR in both, but if not...I will enjoy the ride.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Under 1:30 half

3:15 marathon

Personal:

Married with children. 17,16,14,11 and 7. 3 boys, 2 girls. I have the best husband in the world!

I'll put my splits in later. I actually feel really good about this time considering my total lack of miles and speed. I was a little envious of all the PR's but I didn't put in the work and couldn't expect anything more. I am just soooo happy for all of my friends that did so well!

1-8:49 Right where I wanted to be

2-8:45 Still a good warm up pace

3-8:29 Wish  I could've been about 10 seconds faster but nervous to give too much the first 1/2

4-8:01 Had some good down hill to carry me

5-8:03 Feeling good. Took first GU

6-7:57 Downhill and feeling good

7-8:20 I held back a little to recover the heart a little for VEYO

8-9:25 I saw Smooth and was so excited. I ran up Veyo with her and it saved me big time. We ran past 2 litlle old men that must have been 75 or so and she said to them, "you will not geezerize us!" I nearly peed my pants laughing. She is the funniest thing ever.

9-9:05 Had some downhill coming off of Veyo but potty stop #1 in the bushes:( Also a GU stop

10-8:55 Uphill

11-8:47 Some more uphill

12-8:39

13-8:53 Bushes potty break #2. Those darn GU's are hitting my gut like a ton of bricks.

14-8:37

15-7:46 Took 3rd GU

16-7:48

17-8:57 Porta potty break (Notice my breaks are within 10 minutes of a dang GU)

18-8:03

19-9:23 Hill with the overpass. I saw my big brother who was really sick so I stopped and walked with him for about 2 minutes up the hill.

20-8:36 Stopped to take a GU with brother and then picked it back up. He started to walk and I struggled with the thought of staying with him or just getting it over with. I had nothing but downhill from here but my blisters on my left foot were killing me. I decided to leave him though:(

21-9:02 Well, you guessed it...10 minutes post GU what do I need to do. ANOTHER STINKING (literally:) POTTY BREAK!

22-8:30 Knew I wasn't going to hit 3:40 at this point so thought I would shoot for 3:45

23-8:30

24-8:10 Feel good but getting a little hot

25-8:48 Hit me like a ton of bricks but my hip and foot hurt and I was hot and ready to be done!

26-8:49 Usually the crowds help but I was tired. I even walked for about 15 seconds.

.2-Forgot to stop watch of coarse but had a pretty strong kick to the end. I was watching my watch seeing that I had 20 seconds to get under 3:46 and made it with 2 seconds to spare.

So, I am very happy with my time and learned a lot about myself in this race. I know I have the potential to do well if I will put in the work. I really enjoyed this marathon and don't feel like I am too beat up. Too bad I can't run em all like this and just be happy with it. Always have to one up ourselves:) I signed up for the runners series this morning but I don't think I am going to race until Painters. I need to build up my base and cross train and find the joy in running again. It just hasn't been here the past couple of months.

Anywho, another huge congrats to everyone who did so well! I am in awe of everyone:)

You did great and you were so positive and happy at the end! I hope the blisters heal up well, dang things!

WOW! Envious time despite what you'd call 'lack of training'! :) I knew you'd be able to pull a BQ out of it!!! (That is for you, right?) What an awesome race, can't wait to someday be there to bask in the enjoyment of it with all you speedsters!!

From Shimelle on Mon, Oct 05, 2009 at 12:43:07 from 75.162.113.123

Not a BQ Rachel. I need 3:40 but I am fine with it. There's always next year:) I really couldn't expect anything more. I did walk with my brother for 2-3 minutes at 18 (he was WAY sick) and had 4 bathroom stops but who's to say that didn't actually help me. Glad it's done and looking forward to some slow, enjoyable running:)

Great job! You did great, especially without the miles and speed!

You are so funny, "always have to one up ourselves!"
