Short-Term Running Goals:

I've gotten the running bug back and hope I can continue to enjoy it. I think for now, my short-term goal is to NOT burn myself out. I am pro at doing that. I have a half and full marathon that I am planning on racing in a few months. I hope to be trained well enough to PR in both, but if not...I will enjoy the ride.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Under 1:30 half

3:15 marathon

Well, the leg felt great. We got to the starting area a little late because our bus driver got lost and led 4 others astray. So, we got in line for the potty and as soon as we were done, headed to the corrals. We were going to start in Deans corral (16) but we didn't make it up that far so we started in 21.

Splits

1-9:29 Nice and slow

2-8:57

3-8:42

4-8:29

5-8:33 Feeling good and took a GU

6-8:30 Mentioned to the group that I didn't ever want this marathon to end.

7-8:35

8-8:31

9-8:26

10-8:32 Our goal was to feel fresh at 10 and I did. I took my 2nd GU and 3 ibuprofen to keep on top of any pain that might start.

11-8:43

12-8:20

13-8:30 Was really amazed that we were already half way through.

14-8:43

15-8:22 3rd GU and I also took an electrolyte pill because my quads started cramping.

16-8:25 First major hill. I flew up it feeling really great. I turned to Jody and told her how glad I was to have some uphill. My quads were really feeling the down.

17-8:34

18-8:21

19-8:25

20-8:32 4th GU

21-10:04 Yes, you read that right! Aah, my quads were KILLING me. Heartbreak Hill did break my heart:( I walked for 1 minute.

22-8:38 Recovered a little on the downhill here but feeling pretty hammered.

23-9:07 Beginning of the yucky for me. 5th GU

24-9:17

 25-9:15

26-9:20

.2 ( I clocked .41)-3:42 (9:02 pace)

I will begin by saying that I am 100% happy with my time. It was so much fun and the most awesome experience. I want to go back next year for sure. Now, let me explain my slowing. I'm pretty sure that because of all the water gain from the prednisone, that my body started flushing it all out beginning Wednesday of last week. I think that it flushed a lot of electrolytes out with it because I have never experienced cramping like this. Cardio wise I felt fantastic but my legs gave out. I'm sure it didn't help that I didn't run for 3 weeks prior either. No excuses though. Although, a learning experience again. I feel great now other than some soreness. Okay major soreness. I could hardly move on Tuesday but feel a ton better today (Wed).

Thanks Cal and Allie! It was so amazing and I'm so glad my leg healed up in time. It feels great now so hopefully it will behave for Ogden.

Great job Michelle. I didn't realize you had an injury. I'm glad it got better in time for you to run Boston. I know how you feel, I've been on predinisone too and haven't been able to run since the Riverton 1/2 marathon on March 28th.

You did awesome Michelle. Boston is not easy and that is a great time. I am so sorry you experienced cramping during the race, it must suck to have a problem that you can do nothing about!!! But you have a great attitude about it and YOU RAN BOSTON!!! I am glad your ankle behaved, I hope it is still feeling good!

See you soon.

From Julie on Thu, Apr 23, 2009 at 17:30:33 from 71.35.243.118

I'm so glad I was able to run this with you. This was the funnest race ever. You are so tough. I know I could never go through what you did in the last 3 weeks and still run such a great race. Great Job!!!!

From Robert on Fri, Apr 24, 2009 at 15:44:08 from 206.195.193.254

All things considered, I think you ran a damn good race and are one tough cookie!! What an experience.

From Michelle N. on Mon, Apr 27, 2009 at 09:49:49 from 75.162.252.159

Thanks everyone. I've been out of town again so I haven't looked at the blog for a few days. I have recovered pretty good with the exception of my leg aching a bit again. I'll see how that goes.

From kellies on Wed, Apr 29, 2009 at 00:06:53 from 66.119.143.249

Talk about a belated Congratulations!! I am just sitting here reading and want to scream for you, cry for "me", and any other emotion you can throw into the mix!! GREAT JOB AT BOSTON!! How I wished I could have ran it this year but next year we will be there. Last Monday was a hard day for me knowing that the marathon was going on, but at least I can say I know a few people who ran it and Man, you did great!! Way to go!!!
