Short-Term Running Goals:

I've gotten the running bug back and hope I can continue to enjoy it. I think for now, my short-term goal is to NOT burn myself out. I am pro at doing that. I have a half and full marathon that I am planning on racing in a few months. I hope to be trained well enough to PR in both, but if not...I will enjoy the ride.

Under 1:30 half

3:15 marathon

Slept like a brick last night:) Got up early and taught Total Body class. I pushed a little harder today than I have lately. Trying to lose the weight that I've put on over the past 6 weeks:( I will pre-blog for this evening.

PM-Taught step class.

I am going to try and run 3 or 4 miles tomorrow and see how things feel. Right now, my leg feels great.

Me too Walter! I am going to come back to the group next week if this week goes well. Hopefully everyone will be in recovery mode after the marathon.

Michelle,

What kind of injury are you coming off of? How long did it take you to recover? I need some details girl. I have to plan on how long I will be a gimping runner.

From Michelle N. on Mon, May 11, 2009 at 12:34:12 from 75.162.247.175

I had shin issues that started right after Riverton 1/2. I went to Dr. Toronto and he did an xray and said there was some hazing on the bone which meant the inflammation from the posterior tibialis muscle had inflamed the bone as well. He put me on Prednisone for 12 days and I gained 12 pounds which I think was mainly water. I didn't run until 2 days before Boston and just ran 3 VERY EASY miles. I actually didn't feel a lot of pain during the marathon in that area but my legs cramped really bad. Probably from a lack of running. I ran 3 easy miles 2 days after Boston but was REALLY sore. I noticed my leg bugging me again so I just decided to cross train for a few weeks and bag Ogden. It is finally feeling good. I will see how tomorrow goes though and hopefully I can be on my way to a healthy SG training. Let us know what your doc says. I pray you don't have a stress fracture. It sure seems like the injuries are going around right now.

Oh, Dr. T also told me I was very close to a stress fracture if it hadn't already happened. I'm thinking it is okay but I don't think I'll really know until I try and run a little.

Wow Michelle. I hope that you are doing better, and I hope that this injury is under wraps. We pay a lot for our sport physically, it can be very frustrating. I am proud of you that you went out to Boston and did a great job. I am blessed that that my injury didn't start until after Boston. I pray that my doctor will know what is going on, and that I might heal relatively quickly. My goal is to have a successful fall marathon as well. As for that medication, I don't want to take it.

From Michelle N. on Mon, May 11, 2009 at 14:28:41 from 75.162.247.175

I don't blame you for not wanting to take prednisone. The only reason I did was to get to Boston. If you have time to heal, there is no rush in taking meds. Take care of yourself and I hope things get better.

Thanks for the advice Michelle. I hope you get better soon so you can get out and enjoy the beautiful running weather.

So, how did the run go??????

From Michelle N. on Tue, May 12, 2009 at 19:56:25 from 75.162.247.175

I didn't get out. Now I have to wait until Thursday. My little dude fell asleep at 7:00 last night so he was ready to go at 6:00 when I planned to get out and now we have baseball and mutual so it is looking like a no go dangit. Oh well, I wore my running clothes all day for nothing.
