Short-Term Running Goals:

I've gotten the running bug back and hope I can continue to enjoy it. I think for now, my short-term goal is to NOT burn myself out. I am pro at doing that. I have a half and full marathon that I am planning on racing in a few months. I hope to be trained well enough to PR in both, but if not...I will enjoy the ride.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Under 1:30 half

3:15 marathon

Went to the gym. Jumped on treadmill for 4 miles at 9:13 pace (really needed a nice slow recovery run) then did back/biceps/abs and some good stretching then jumped back on the treadmill with the plan of running 4 more. Got to the 2 mile point and decided to up my pace to 8:49 (bad idea) within 1/2-3/4 mile my hammy really started to ache so I finished at 3 miles and cooled down for 1/4. I felt like it was better to listen to my body then to get the extra 3/4 mile in. I really felt great though other than the hammy.

Take care of yourself. I want you there at Boston.

How long has your ham been bugging you? Did it just start after your Sat run? Oh, I hate tight hamstrings, welcome to the world of running, huh? Glad you had the sense to take it easy, we definatley don't want you hurt! Stretch well and we'll see you tomorrow.

Thanks Jody. I hope India is going well.

Rachel, it was kind of bugging me on Thursday but I really noticed it after Saturday. I hope it is just the little aches and pains of upping mileage and speed. I will pay CLOSE attention to it. See ya tomorrow.

Good recovery run. 16 miles is a lot. I haven't done that in forever.

Nice job listening to your body! You are so smart!!

From Julie on Mon, Feb 09, 2009 at 18:53:23

Be careful. I know how painful that is. Maybe you better take it easy on the hills tomorrow. The hills seem to aggrivate mine.

Falling apart, everyone is falling apart!!!

Good girl stopping when you needed to! We could all use a little of that wisdom!

I'm coming to group tomorrow but I'm DEFINITELY running slow. See y'all there.
